STAR setup help!

Hey capts, hope you can help me with a FMC problem.

So, there I come into an approach to LAX from the East and passed my last fixed waypoint at FL360/M0.80 and picked up the RIIVR2 Arrival with HEC transition (HEC.RIIVR2) for runway 25L and my FMC does not process it correctly. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

See, I'm like 20 miles from HEC and 100 from LAX and the PROG page shows me I'm going directly to LAX (100 miles to go)... and THEN to HEC (120 miles to go!) Shocked
I tried deleting LAX as a direct but couldn't, the STAR arrival was in *Discontinuity* space in the Route page. So I tried everything I could before giving the arrival up and proceed direct to LAX to land on 24L.

I selected the runway first, then the arrival, the the transition. But I never flew to HEC VOR.  Angry

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Rigo

when a discontinuity happens delete the discontinuity, select delete then select the line that has "Route Discontinuity" displayed.

Actually it was very easy, just to paste the first fixed point of the STAR in Descontinuity to the *THEN* space below the route, like connecting the Legs of the route. Foolish of me to hadn't tried that from the beginning.
