T/D calculation flashing in and out
Mar 12th, 2012 at 1:17am

This just started:

On the Progress page, the line with the ETA at the T/D keeps flashing on and off, and each time it goes off, the ETA calculations for the NEXT and DEST become incorrect. Any ideas?

Thanks,

I have had it happen to me. Not sure if it was the 767 or the 757 though. If you do a search, you should find a post where I mentioned it. I can't remember if or what I did to fix/stop it. Sad

Do you know what that post was called? The search feature on the forum isn't great--you need exact keywords.

Sorry. I looked for it but couldn't find it anywhere. I have no idea of the name of the topic.

Do you remember if it went away after you passed the T/D?

No idea. I would not do the flight until I got it sorted out. I either sorted it out or I decided on another route. This all happened around the time shortly after either the 757 4.6 upgrade release or the 767 v1.5 upgrade release and I can't remember whether it was the 757, 767 or both that had the problem.

Well, I solved it. I'm not sure what did it in the end, but it was either re-selecting the approach, or setting one of my own altitude constraints in the Approach (I think it was the latter). Thanks for your help, though Smiley

That would probably be what I did.

With the problems of no T/D, I used to copy a waypoint, paste it higher up the list, then press Left LSK6 to ERASE the changes and the T/D would appear and the flight would be fine. This is not what happens in the 767 1.5. It can be a lot fiddlier to try and get the T/D or to stop it from cycling through a strange happening. The cycle was something like this: 289/17000 - 289/16550 - 289/16000 - .789/FL360, then it would repeat it.

Anyway, I'm glad you sorted it out and got to fly the route. Sometimes I will spend ages sorting them out, other times I just say "Stuff it!" and fly a different route. Grin

Yeah, I would have done that, but I was halfway across the Atlantic en route to some new scenery I just bought, and I really didn't want to have to fly that again.  Wink

Would have been worse if you were half way across the Pacific. Grin
